It is a well known fact that German made Panzers and Assault guns found their way towards the Artic Circle, having been gifted to Finland in order that this small country could attempt to see off the Soviet Bear. Visitors will therefore hardly be surprised that many tangible relics of those "lost Panzers" can still be found in Finland and Lappland. Above is the remains of a Sturmgeschutz III piled up in a Finnish forest.

The much modified hull of a German/Finnish Panzer IV Ausf G lies above, being poured over by curious onlookers. This tank had been used as a range target, until there was very little left to call it such. To a great many it might seem peculiar that such historic items should be reduced to such.

Another former range target, that had lain in Lappland for some years. Even in such a condition it would have made an impressive exhibit in a museum. It would appear that this is exactly what others thought as it was removed shortly after the picture was taken. We currently have no idea of it's whereabouts, but hope that it is being restored to be displayed in the future.
